Sarah was born in Nottingham in 1969. Her father was an architect and her mother made dance costumes, in the gaps between bringing up four children. Home was a creative place where you were guaranteed to step on stray lego and leave with at least one peice of sewing thread hanging from your clothes.
In 1989 Sarah moved to London to study Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art. After completing her degree, Sarah stayed in London for a further year, and took full advantage of all the museums and art galleries at her disposal.
Unpaid design work by day and long shifts as a waitress at night began to take its toll and Sarah returned to Nottingham in 1993 and started up a business designing and making bespoke bridalwear.
In 2006, Sarah decided it was time for a change. Now married and with her two children at school, she took up painting. She began life drawing classes and became a member of the Nottingham Society of Artsits.
In 2007 Sarah moved into a studio space at Harrington Mill Studios, Long Eaton.
In 2009 Sarah set up her studio at home to maximise working hours and create a suitable space for life drawing and portrait work.
